The Life:  University of Portland is perched on a bluff overlooking the Willamette River and downtown Portland skyline, with Mt. Hood looming large on the horizon.  North Portland is an eclectic neighborhood of old homes on the peninsula of land that pokes westward where the Willamette and Columbia rivers meet.  UP has a vibrant athletic program and is a member of the West Coast Conference along with Gonzaga, Pepperdine, BYU, and other prestigious universities.  Religious students will delight in the campus’ central Cathedral, which was designed by the internationally famous architect, Pietro Belluschi.

Cons:  The UP campus is set back on Portland’s northern peninsula, without easy access to freeways.
