Southern Oregon University

The only MBA program in its state offered south of Eugene is at Southern Oregon University.  SOU has a full-time MBA program in Ashland, as well as an evening program for working professionals in Medford.  With its 12 month program, the full-time SOU MBA offers students speed to market at a very affordable price.  Tuition and fees for the entire MBA will cost Oregon residents around $17,000.
  Out-of-state residents will find the tuition very reasonable, too, at approximately $23,000.  SOU uses an “either/or” baseline for admission, so that students who didn’t maintain a 3.00 GPA on their undergraduate degree may still be considered if they submit GMAT scores greater than 500.  Prospective students interested in an MBA at SOU can expect a broad based business education and standard curriculum that offers high quality for a low price.

The Life:  Once a bucolic small town, Ashland has become a favorite place for retirees from all over America, due to its magnificent scenery and mild climate.  Students can enjoy all the outdoor splendor the southern Oregon has to offer.  Mt. Ashland Ski Resort is a short drive from campus and the Rogue River has some of the best white water rafting in the country.

Drawbacks:  Ashland is a long way from the nearest big city.  Both Portland to the north and Sacramento to the south are about a 290 mile drive.  That aside, it’s hard to find fault with the SOU MBA program.  It’s priced right for a regional state college, affordable for out-of-state residents, and a beautiful destination to escape the city and return to school for a year.
