The Portland Business Journal has ranked
Marylhurst’s
MBA program #1 in the
Portland area. With a hybrid on-campus and online format, the college offers
maximum convenience for working professionals seeking to earn an MBA in as
little as 18 months. The Marylhurst MBA has an amazing selection of
academic concentrations to choose from for a small, private college.
Students choose to focus in Management, Finance, Non-Profit Management,
Organizational Behavior, Marketing, or Health Care Management. The GMAT
exam may be waived for admission to Marylhurst.
Additionally, foundation coursework is
not required to enter the program, which is another big convenience for busy
professionals seeking an MBA. As
Oregon’s
oldest Catholic college, founded in 1893, Marylhurst has much credibility
within the area. For these reasons, the Marylhurst MBA has been popular
among professionals in real estate, insurance, health care administration and
more for decades.
The Life: Marylhurst is located on the west bank of the
Willamette River between the tony
Portland suburbs of
Lake Oswego and
West Linn, making it a convenient location
for many professionals and commuters. Small class sizes and a picturesque
little campus give the program an intimate feel.
Drawbacks: Marylhurst’s business program is not AACSB accredited,
which can limit its market value with large, global corporations. For
many years, the Marylhurst MBA was known as one of the best bargains in the
Portland
area, but more recently costs of the program have crept up closer to some of
the larger programs in the area.
