George Fox University is located in
Newberg, Oregon
and is a private Christian college founded in 1885 by Quakers. Its
longevity and accreditations (ACBSP) give the
George Fox
MBA its clout in the
Portland
area. The Portland Business Journal has ranked it #4 in northern
Oregon.
Forbes Magazine
calls George Fox one of the top ten Christian colleges in the west.
The
program is offered full-time at the Newberg campus and part-time in
Portland
near Interstate 5 and Highway 217—a highly convenient location for many
commuting professionals in Multnomah and Washington counties. The
full-time option can be completed in just 11 months and the part-time option
will take 24 months. Either way, the total cost for a George Fox MBA will
run approximately $30,000. Prospective students must be able to
demonstrate a 2.7 GPA in their undergraduate work, but the GMAT exam is not a
requirement.
The Life: Newberg is a congenial town in the midst of
Oregon
wine country. A 30 minute drive east will bring you to everything the
city of
Portland
has to offer, while a slightly longer drive to the west will bring you to the
Oregon Coast.
The campus itself is located a home-run hit from downtown Newberg, an idyllic
turn-of-page with many restaurants and shops to peruse before or after class.
Drawbacks: George Fox does not accept any transfer coursework as
progress toward its MBA.
